The Visiting Nurse Association of the Treasure Coast is seeking a Director of Clinical Services, Hospice to be responsible for all administrative, clinical, organizational and operating/capital budgetary planning for all areas of responsibility. Responsible for the provision of quality and cost-effective services and systems; demonstrates and integrates the values of the VNA in the performance of duties. Role models intradepartmental collaboration with managers and staff in meeting the comprehensive needs of hospice patients.

Responsibilities

  • As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, participate in the development of a multi-year strategic plan that includes assessing the needs of the customers to develop new hospice services to expand and enhance agency services.
  • Develop and recommend changes to hospice administrative policies and procedures. Interpret policy and communicate to supervisory and clinical staff, and others who may be affected.
  • Coordinate and integrate all care team activities through regular meetings with department managers
  • Maintain appropriate levels of staffing and work schedules for the patient population served, including planning for times of emergency.
  • Define the qualifications and performance expectations of all positions in areas of responsibility.
  • Develop proficiency in the agency electronic medical record.
  • In collaboration with the QA Department, maintain responsibility for ensuring manager participation in and ongoing monitoring and identification of opportunities for improvement in care outcomes including internal and publicly reported outcomes. Develop action plans to address areas of opportunity and routinely reports on the status of plans.
  • Actively participate in identifying and meeting annual senior manager/senior leader goals tied to agency CORE values.
  • Routinely communicate essential announcements, department performance improvement activities and patient outcome data to all department staff through regularly scheduled meetings or other means of communication.
  • Approve budgetary expenditures within specific areas of responsibility.
  • Responsible for disciplinary action and termination decisions; maintains accurate and complete supporting documentation.
  • Review all client complaints; accountable to be the first responder to all client complaints not resolved by PCM. Collaborate with the Compliance Officer as indicated.
  • Collaborate with the education department on the planning and execution of educational needs as identified. Participates in educating staff based in areas of expertise.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable licensure, certification and JCAHO requirements. Oversee survey process during state licensure inspections.

 

Qualifications

  • Current RN license in the State of Florida
  • Bachelor's Degree required; Masters degree or equivalent in Nursing or Business Administration a plus
  • 5 or more years of hospice experience
  • At least 3 years of proven supervisory experience at the director level
  • Demonstrated proficiency and knowledge of regulations, and Value Based Purchasing
