The VNA is seeking a Chief Financial Officer to direct and oversee all financial activities of the Agency and ensure that the financial record keeping systems are accurate, efficient, and in accordance with professional accounting practices, Federal, State and Medicare regulations. Directs the preparation of regular historical financial reports as well as develops summaries and forecasts for future business activity for management and the Board of Directors. Functions as the Chief Security Officer to assure compliance with HIPAA laws and regulations. As a member of the Executive Management team, takes proactive part in managing the success of the agency

Responsibilities

  • Develop and direct the Finance Department goals, projects, policies, procedures, methods and controls. 
  • Direct and coordinate general accounting activities including accounts receivable and payable, payroll, disbursements and collections. 
  • Participate with Executive Management on the development and implementation of a multi-year strategic plan. 
  • Meet regularly with department heads to keep informed and to offer direction. 
  • Analyze projections of income and expenses, reports against budgeted, and initiates methods of improving the bottom line. 
  • Apply economic trends to project Agency growth in market share, opportunities for acquisitions or expansion into new service areas. Estimates requirements for capital, land, buildings and staffing levels. 
  • Direct the timely preparation of data, financial and other reports for Medicare, PIP Funding, and audits. 
  • Coordinate tax reporting for various companies for Income, Payroll and Local taxes, and follows through as necessary with the IRS, and Florida Department of Revenue. 
  • Coordinate with Agency's outside C.P.A. for annual audits and reviews. 
  • Develops and ensure maintenance of the internal control system. 
  • Develop financial information relevant to agency contracts, grants and associate benefit plans including Workers' Compensation, Health & Dental and Life & LTD insurance.  
  • Initiates timely reports to President and management relative to agency financial status and significant variances. 
  • Provide ongoing finance, reimbursement and other related education to management and Board.  
  • Present and explains monthly financial data to Finance Committee and the Board of Directors. 
  • Direct the preparation of the annual budget and the annual capital budget, coordinating with President, Management, and Board of Directors. 
  • Develop long range operating and capital budgets reflective of the strategic plan. 
  • Manage and forecasts cash positions and manages investment opportunities as directed by the Investment Committee. Acts as CFO for VNA and Hospice Foundation.
  • Ensure the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to the security of electronic protected health information (e-PHI). 
  • Maintain effective mechanisms for personnel to report potential security issues and wrongdoing, including a log of all security reports, related investigations, actions and changes in policy that result from the report. 

 

Qualifications

  • Master's degree (M. A.) or equivalent; or six to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Management experience at the VP level or above is desired
  • high volume revenue management experience (30 million or more)
  • CPA designation is preferred
  • Experience with home care or hospice is preferred
  • Mergers and acquisitions experience is desired
  • Must be a high energy strategic thinker
