Overview

Job Summary:

The Product Manager oversees the collection, processing, and management of donated goods. This role is crucial in ensuring a steady flow of high-quality inventory while maintaining positive relationships with donors and community partners. The Product Manager optimizes the donation processes to maximize store profitability. Assists the store manager with the overall performance and day-to-day operation of the store to achieve its business objectives.  Assists the store manager in implementing strategies to improve customer service, drive store sales, and increase profitability.  Ensures customers’ needs are met, complaints are resolved, and service provided is quick and efficient. 

Responsibilities

Essential Job Duties/Responsibilities:  The individual must be able to perform the essential job duties and responsibilities to be effective.  Other duties may be assigned as needed.

 

  1. Oversee the receipt, sorting, and organization of donated items to ensure efficiency and quality control.
  2. Implement and maintain donation guidelines to ensure items meet store standards.
  3. Coordinate storage and inventory management to optimize space and product flow.
  4. Develop and maintain strong relationships with individual donors, businesses, and community organizations.
  5. In collaboration with the Store Manager, organize donation drives and outreach programs to increase contributions.
  6. Educate donors on acceptable donations and the impact of their contributions.
  7. Train and supervise staff and volunteers working in donation processing.
  8. Assign tasks and ensure a smooth workflow in donation sorting and pricing.
  9. Foster a positive and productive work environment.
  10. In collaboration with the Lead Mover, manage donation pick-up and drop-off logistics, ensuring timely and efficient collection.
  11. Work with the moving team and external partners (ReSupply) to coordinate donation pickups.
  12. In collaboration with the Store Manager and Sales Manager, implement strategies to maximize the resale value of donated items.
  13. Ensure compliance with safety and sanitation standards in handling donations.
  14. Identify areas for improvement and implement process enhancements.
  15. Be able to perform all duties of a sales associate, cashier, driver, and other staff positions to ensure smooth and transparent operation for customers.
  16. Provide information to the Store Manager about the performance of associates and volunteers as needed. Work with the Store Manager on performance issues, performance improvement and other employee relations situations, including situations that may arise with volunteers and customers.
  17. As needed, close out and balance the cash register and make bank deposits following store and agency procedures.
  18. In collaboration with the Sales Manager, fill in for manager during vacations, leave of absence, staffing or emergency needs.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must have the following: 

 

  • Minimum two years related experience in a service industry, retail or resale/consignment operation
  • Minimum one year management/supervisory or work direction a plus
