The Clinical IT Manager will serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) and integrator in the implementation and ongoing support of the Electronic Health Records (EHR) software with coordination and support to the agency. The CIM will report directly to the VP of Clinical Operations, and serves to coordinate, develop and support curriculum between Clinical IT and the Education department. Demonstrates the core values of the VNA in all aspects of work responsibilities.

Responsibilities

1. The Clinical IT Manager manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function working with leadership for quality improvement, regulatory changes, and to meet organizational goals.
2. Creates or provides input for the functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure.
3. Coordinating efforts to ensure the full utilization of all training facilities, processes, resources and equipment
4. Coordination with Service line leaders, Education, and Quality to identify training approaches, practices and processes to improve the efÏciency in training and use of the software.
5. Responsible for the successful implementation and support of all electronic health record (EHR) software production release(s). This will be accomplished by developing and assembling a Subject Matter Expert (SME) group to review and approve all software production releases, regulatory changes, and other enhancements that require changes to our (EHR) software as needed.
6. Coordinate all software upgrades and patch installations with Clinical Application Coordinator(s) and Specialist(s), documenting and resolving problems with package installations, and working closely with the technical IT staff to solve any related problems.
7. Supervises, trains, and evaluates professional and technical subordinates; provides technical advice and assistance to staff; selects and supervises the work of informatics staff.
8. Leads in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, and priorities for clinical information technology.
9. Analyze and evaluate processes related to information workflow
10. Periodically review EHR configurations for accuracy and completeness
11. Obtain a comprehensive knowledge of the software and workflow practices to determine the difference between procedural issues and application configuration deficiencies
12. Provide training information to the education department on current software applications, new features, and ensure that training is scheduled /completed for new users. Assist staff in the efÏcient use of the current software.
13. Utilize reporting features within software applications to have a better understanding of tablet functions (i.e. Synch, refresh/renew, database maintenance) and keep track of device usage.
14. Emphasize timeliness, accuracy, security and the importance of these functions on every other clinical application.
15. Coordinate classes with the Education Department and can create educational and informative presentations.
16. Promote an atmosphere that encourages enthusiasm and user participation in clinical computing.
17. Create a positive environment for reporting application and/or system deficiencies and suggestions for system improvements and enhanced functionality.
18. Serve as technical liaison between users, departments and leadership, concerning the above listed duties and responsibilities. Including attending / presenting for steering committee meetings.
19. Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree (preferred), bachelor’s degree, or other healthcare-related fieldand/or 3 years of direct patient care experience combined
  • Current active Nursing or Therapy FL license (required)
  • Clinical knowledge, including OASIS
  • Technical knowledge with understanding concepts, principles, methods, and practices in an IT environment
  • Ability to efÏciently operate computer software, Microsoft OfÏce, and an understanding of cellular equipment (e.g. cell phones, tablets)
  • Must be dependable, punctual, able to build positive relationships with others, and consistently meets deadlines.
