Responsibilities

 

The certified medical assistant (CMA) will perform various clinical and administrative duties to keep the mobile health clinic running efficiently. The CMA will work directly with mobile clinic staff to collect test samples, maintain patient records, educate patients including, but not limited to, explaining medical procedures to patients, and assisting APRNs with basic examinations. Maintain a clean and safe environment.

Assists APRNs with patient evaluation and management throughout patient visits to the mobile clinic.

2. The certified medical assistant will be the first to greet the patient outside of the clinic.

3. Measure and record patient vital signs such as temperature, blood pressure, pulse, respiration rate, height and weight, and basic information about presenting and previous conditions.

4. Directed by the APRN's, assist with simple laboratory and screening tests customarily performed in a medical office including running urine analysis, hemoglobin screening, blood sugar screening, and cholesterol screening.

5. Update and maintain digital EMRs and assist with scanning hard copies into EMRs

6. Enter and/or retrieve vaccine records from Florida Shots.

7. Maintain cleanliness and sterilization of medical equipment and work areas.

8. Answer phone calls and maintain statistics.

9. Maintain and assist with cleaning the clinic and transporting medical supplies.

 

Qualifications

  • Certification as a medical assistant, required.
  • Associate degree, preferred
  • One to two years’ experience, required.
  • Bilingual in Spanish
  • Experience in an outpatient center or medical office, preferable
  • Must be able to transport themselves to and from mobile clinic sites throughout Indian River County.
