The Clinical Education Manager is responsible for the management of the education of home health and hospice associates, including the orientation process and ongoing education needs, by promoting continuous learning through clinical education programs and learning management systems.  The Clinical Education Manager provides clinical expertise and serves as a role model and expert in clinical education and skills.

Responsibilities

1. Providing coordination and management of clinical education for Home Health and Hospice service lines of the VNA of the Treasure Coast. 

 

a. Manages and teaches educational content/materials as needed or assigned to facilitate orientation, staff development and safe practice.

b. Manages the development of educational programs, materials, and resources for staff (e.g., performs literature-based searches or other methods of inquiry) to provide the most current data for evidence-based practice.

c. Oversees the coordination and delivery of training programs through various methods and approaches such as in-person presentations and in-services, on-line training via webinars and demonstrations, etc.

d. Manages the development of curriculum or content for classes, workshops, or other educational

e. Ensures a smooth transition of new associates throughout the orientation period by coordinating and managing the clinical orientation track.

f. Manages and educates clinical associates regarding the EMR documentation during the orientation period and ongoing.

g. Coordinates and manages onsite visits to assess knowledge and compliance with the documentation process.

h. Mentors and assists clinical staff while adjusting content and teaching strategies appropriate to the learner’s needs.

i. Coordinates and manages joint visits with clinical staff to increase technical skill set and assess regulatory compliance.

 

2. Communication

 

a. Collaborates with Service Line Leaders/Managers, People & Culture, Clinical Information Technology and/or Compliance/QA to coordinate orientation, staff development and mentoring of clinical staff to ensure  the educational needs of staff are met.

b. Determines and communicates readiness of new associates to proceed to increased responsibilities of patient.

 

3. Evaluates educational programs through outcome results, surveys or direct feedback, to validate and/or modify the objectives of the Education Department and to comply with updates in regulatory and          accrediting bodies.

4. Collaborates with Clinical Information Technology for training of clinical staff on the electronic record system and enhancements to improve clinical monitoring and clinical note

5. Manages, coordinates, and/or delivers educational opportunities that benefit clinical staff at all stages of their career development and consults with staff regarding individual needs.

6. Maintains current knowledge of clinical practices, federal/state guidelines, Joint Commission standards and VNA policies/procedures. Updates clinical associate education materials to reflect the newest and best practices.

7. Coordinates remediation opportunities for field clinicians between the clinical schedule, education, and Patient Care Managers to provide targeted education when needed to address identified

8. Participates with internal committees, as assigned, to provide expertise and coordination of education efforts.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Actively pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or a healthcare-related field.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience in an educational role, Quality Assurance, Patient Care Management, or another directly related position.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or a healthcare-related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in leadership, training, or quality improvement within home health, hospice, or other healthcare settings.
  • Current active Nursing license - FL license (required)
  • Recent Hospice and/or Home Health Experience
  • Proficient in clinical skills
  • Minimum 2 years in managing a team, department or training function
  • Current Basic Life Support for Health Care Provider Certification/CPR
